Fuerteventura

I just got home from Fuerteventura, I was out there with James Boulding, Aaron Hadlow and Tom Court filming and taking pictures for a few weeks. We built a 12m long flat bar, to session in the lagoons. I am actually putting together a little edit, I haven’t done much editing for a while so it will be interesting how its going to turn out! Triple S!!

So i Just got back from The Triple S, where i placed 3rd in the Slicks and 4th in The Sliders. It was a really fun event and the standard of riding really went up from last year, everyone was hungry to push their riding and take the whole event to the next level! And it certainly did, i was chuft with my placings as i think anyone who was invited could have placed anywhere. There was a huge UK presence as well, its nice to have the boys representing! Cant wait till Hood River for the Ro Sham Throwdown!

Hello! I landed in the UK a few days ago now, and its been sunny every day! Not quite sure why i left i’ve been playing Golf, Paddle boarding, and skateboarding most days. I had an amazing time in Australia as always, two months in Perth living with Tom Court and James Boulding filming and shooting everything we did, making some very cool videos and taking some good pictures! So watch this space as there is a lot of media coming your way.
Naish TV has been offically launched, its been in the pipeline for a while but its a project im very excited about as it basically means were going to make loads of cool videos throughout the year and Naish will provide you with a lot of free viewing time. It is also why the first episode of ‘Betty does America’ is so late, sorry about that but we had to wait and release it as the first show on Naish TV. So if you havent seen it already, check it out:

Australia 2011

I’ve come back to Australia for my 3rd season, this year ill be in Perth for 2 months filming, shooting and just riding! Im living with James Boulding and Tom Court from the UK, we have a very cool house in the center of Fremantle, just south of Perth thats situated near all the best kite spots.

I’ve already finished filming one project with the Naish Team, Florian Daubos, Jalou Langeree and Ewan Jaspen were all out here at the same time and we filmed a lot before everybody had to jet off to there next destination, James filmed the whole project and we all put our ideas together along with the guys at Naish, hopefully it will come out good! It will be released some time in the spring.

So watch this space for some serious media coming out of WA!

Christmas at Home

Hello, Christmas at home as been fun this year! eating way to much and drinking lots. We even got some snow and i tried snow kiting that was sort of successful, i got the feeling but needed a bit more wind and snowboard boots to put in my snowboard! not just normal shoes. check out my pictures.

I’ve got an exciting winter planning with a lot of cool projects, I’m heading out to Australia with Tom Court and James Boulding on the 10th, were meeting a good uk crew there as well so there should be some sick media coming your way very soon.

As far as betty does America, I’ve read all the complaints about it not being ready! and well its not quite ready but so close. So watch this space!

Here is a little video i made from Cwc with some of the out takes that wont make the full production for one reason or another, quality, angles etc but i threw it together and put a song over the top so you have something to watch this evening!

Wind Or No Wind!

I just got home after one of the best events i have ever been to. The Wind or No wind jam.

The idea behind the event was to bring everybody’s skills together in a watersports paradise, we could hone our skills at the best training ground in the world on the cable, boat or winch park then if the winds up put all our new tricks to practice. I think it will push wakestyle kiteboarding and wakeboarding to new heights and set the bar where kiteboardings future is. It was so cool to bring almost two generations of riders together, the guys who influenced us young guys to do what we do today who still throw down as hard as anyone, like the autofocus crew! And the up and coming riders with the jedi skills to push kiteboarding where its never gone before! Watch this space!

Everybody was killing it, so its hard to call out names, but Aaron Hadlow, Brandon Sheild and myself cleaned up in the prize giving! I managed to take home a 2nd in the Kite Event and 3rd in the Cable. Aaron won the overall, it was really cool to see a big UK crew there always killing it, Tom Court was right there too nailing sick crows and 7s, and of course James Boulding who is also filming the event managed to find the time to throw down as hard as anyone.

I’d like to give a big shout out to Morris and everybody who made the event happen! I cant wait till next year now.

CWC – Philippines

Hello! Im out in the Philippines at the moment warming up for the ‘Wind Or No Wind Jam’. The complex is amazing! I cant believe it, the cable is perfect, all the rails are perfect! and there are sooo many rails. Theres a really good crew out here all pushing each others riding. The cable runs till 9pm at night so you can ride all day and night, i’ve already learnt a load of new tricks, the only problem is its too good and my body is hurting a lot but hopefully it will get easier as i get use to it. But here are a few pictures of me and the boys!! More pictures and video to come soon..

Maui

Hey, it’s that Maui time of year! I have been here for 2 and a half weeks. I have had a big mixture of conditions from 3 days of solid rain to huge Jaws days and epic kiting conditions. A good mate from home Chris Bull came out with me for the first two weeks, it was cool showing him about and getting to see some of the island i don’t normally see. We had double kiting sessions most days hitting the kickers out at ‘Boneyards’ near Flash beach, i learnt some new tricks and a few that i haven’t seen done in kiting before! So watch out for a new video soon! I have also been playing Golf, Skateboarding and Surfing so its been a good trip! This weeks been busy working with Naish, shooting and testing new kites and equipment.

Also be sure to check out my pictures! I just got a new set of kites with O’Neill logos that look sick! I have been shooting with Tracy Craft a lot and we have a few money shots for sure!

I get home this Saturday, and i have a short week before heading out to the Philippines for the Wind or No Wind event, check it out www.windornowind.com

1st BKSA Blackpool

I just got back from a great weekend in Blackpool at the finals of the BKSA. It was the only event on the British tour i have competed in this year as i have been away when they have been on, it was so cool to check out the scene and see everybody riding so good. I was unsure whether to enter just incase i got my arss handed to me! but i thought id try my luck. The wind was perfect on friday, they managed to run the whole comp in one day including the mens pros.
The wind was onshore, around 15-20 knots i was a bit nervous about ending up on the beach as i was competing in bindings so i thought id take my 14 and go big or go home. i was stacked for my first heat, everybody was on 9s but i managed to pull through a win that heat. The next heat was against Luke Whiteside, he’s killing it at the moment and i knew it would be a hard heat, he beat me! Which put me into the losers final against Ollie Sweeney who is also killing it! We had a few heats before ours so we got really cold! I managed to win that heat to put me back into the final against Ned Taylor and Luke Whiteside.
In the final I had nothing to loose, Ned and Lukes entire year rested on this heat as their points were so close, basically who ever won that heat won the British Title. This meant I didn’t have as much pressure and managed to string together a good enough heat to take the win! I am so chuft as I haven’t competed much this year and it was so nice to come back and win the event! The prize giving was really nice and we all celebrated the year with a good night out!

Last week Damien Girardin, the Naish Kite designer came back to the UK after our short trip to Sardinia to do a mini UK tour to visit a few shops and check out the UK kite scene, while on the road we stopped into Liquid Leisure cable park and filmed our session, its only a handycam but you can see what we were up to!

New Website Competition – Win a signed board!

I was trying to think of something cool to do for the opening of my new website, I thought I would really like to give something back to the young guys in the sport trying to make it happen, and I remember when I first started how hard and expensive it was to get good gear, so I figured why not give away one of my old boards!

So heres the chance for any person under the age of 16 to send in there best video of them shredding, it needs to include some kitesurfing pictures or video, even if its just flying to kite on the beach because you don’t have a board yet.

I’m looking for a video that inspires me, something that includes all the core sports maybe like skateboarding, snowboarding maybe surfing? show some dedication and some enthusiasm to make it to the top!

UK Groms get a head start because there home grown, but the competition is open internationally! So here’s your chance to win a signed used 2007 Naish Thorn!
